This site is dedicated to all Ragland family members. For additional information on the Ragland Family, or to add information on the Ragland Family, please contact Chris Ragland.

Teaser – While this site will eventually contain all of the information gathered by myself and friends, I thought it would be fun to include a few teasers.

Yes, we have a Castle in Wales. Raglan Castle is located seven miles southwest of Monmouth, Gwent, in southeast Wales.

Yes, we are descendents of Charlemagne (Charles the Great, King of the Franks, Imperator Augustus). I cannot make that sound any more interesting than it already is, so I will leave it be for now.

Yes, the ancestor of the main family line currently living in America was a man that was kidnapped and forced into indentured servitude. But look on the bright side; he ended up marrying the daughter of his owner and taking over the manor. Not too shabby.

Ragland is the British version of the name, while Raglan in Welsh. The “d” was added by Sir Robert Ragland to make the family appear more British and to help integrate into British society among other things.

Following the Herbert family line (first appearing in 1050 AD from “Herbert of the Winchester”) we are descended from the Welsh Kings of old.

Our paternal line includes French bloodlines. NOTE: See Charlemagne, or Frankish Empire.
